Phillies Sign T-Bones All-Star Greg Jacobs

01/03/2007 2:42 PM - January 3, 2007 – The Philadelphia Phillies have signed former Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Greg Jacobs, and have invited him to Spring Training.

An Orange, CA native, Jacobs was drafted in the 13th round of the 1998 amateur draft by the Anaheim Angels out of Cal State-Fullerton. Jacobs joined the T-Bones in 2005, hitting .348 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 65 games.

In his sixth season of professional baseball, Jacobs hit .333 with Kansas City in 2006, while blasting 15 home runs and collecting 64 RBI. For his professional career, Jacobs has hit .341 with 55 home runs and 281 RBI. He was elected to both the mid-season and post-season All-Star squads, as well as being named the Northern League’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Jacobs compiled a .995 fielding percentage, making just one error in 188 total chances as an outfielder; and a .990 fielding percentage, with just one error in 103 total chances in ten games at first base.

Jacobs is the fourth T-Bone from the 2006 season to be signed by a Major League organization, joining outfielder Michael Spidale (Phillies), pitcher Byron Embry (Mariners), and catcher Craig Hurba (Mariners).
