09/14/2006 9:55 AM - The Northern League Championship Series is tied at one game apiece as the series heads to Fargo, after the Fargo-Moohead RedHawks eked out a 4-3 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats in game two of the series Wednesday at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary.

The best-of-five series moves to Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo Friday for game three. Game four and game five, if necessary, will also be played in the RedHawks home park.

The RailCats led the Redhawks 3-1 entering the ninth inning in Wednesday's game, but RailCats reliever Pete Sikaras failed to close the door. Sikaras struck out Ruben Salazar, yielded an infield single to Richard Austin, and struck out Harry Berrios to bring the RailCats within an out of a two games to none lead in the series.

Sikaras then lost command of his pitches, walking Allen Mottram, Scott Goodman, and Craig Ringe in succession to force in a run. Kory Wayment then lifted a bloop single into right-center field to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs for Fargo-Moorhead.

The three runs were the first earned runs allowed by Gary pitchers in five post-season games at U. S. Steel Yard, and brought and end to Gary's seven-game post-season home winning streak.

Steve Haake homered in the first inning for Gary.The RedHawks tied the game an unearned run in the third inning, on a two-out RBI-single by Brent Krause.

The RailCats re-took the lead in the fifth, on Jarrod Patterson's RBI-single, and added a run in the sixth on Eric McNamee's RBI-double.
