07/23/2006 8:27 PM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (28-30, 6-4) claimed a see-saw, 4-3 victory over the Calgary Vipers (24-34, 5-5) Sunday to take their third win of the four-game set before a crowd of 5,778 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

With two-out in the bottom of the ninth, Kyle Nichols looped a single down the right-field line just beyond the outstretched glove of Sam Rosario to bring home Charles Peterson with the game-winning run.

The dramatic ending was fitting of a contest that featured numerous lead changes throughout. The home club kicked off the scoring with two-out in the bottom of the second when Craig Hurba deposited a Scott Sarver offering over the left field wall to give the T-Bones an early 1-0 lead.

Kansas City starter Larry Robles, who was making his first start since June 17th, was sharp early in the contest, striking out four batters through the games' first three innings. But four of the Vipers first five hitters recorded hits to start the fourth, including Brandon Rogers' RBI-single off the glove of second baseman Darryl Lawhorn that brough home Nelson Castro with the tying run. Lefthander Jaime Jones relieved Robles and worked out of a bases-loaded jam by retiring Manabu Kuramochi on a fly ball to center field to avoid further damage.

Rogers delivered another run-scoring single in the sixth, singling to center off James Morrison to give Calgary a 2-1 advantage.

The T-Bones would counter with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame to even the score, as J.D. Foust singled to start the inning, swiped second with two-out, then came home on Eddie Pearson's base-hit to right field.

The two clubs traded runs once again over the following two innings, as Lawhorn singled and scored on Foust's RBI-single in the seventh to put the T-Bones on top by a score of 3-2. Castro answered for the Vipers with one-out in the top of the eighth, belting a solo shot into the visiting bullpen to even the score.

Byron Embry (3-2) recorded the final out of the ninth inning to earn the victory, while Jon Huizinga (2-3) suffered the loss after surrendering the ninth-inning run.

Rogers led the Calgary offense with three hits and a pair of RBI's, while Foust went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to pace Kansas City's attack.

Kansas City will welcome the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to CommunityAmerica Ballpark Monday evening for the first of a three-game set. RHP Hank Woodman (3-1, 6.57) will oppose RHP Todd George (4-2, 3.02) in Game 1, which is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.

Game Notes: Newest T-Bone Jaime Jones made his professional mound debut after a 10-year minor league career as an outfielder...Charles Peterson's 27-game home hit streak came to an end with an 0-for-5 performance Sunday...Doug Dreher's club-record 18-game hit streak also came to an end with his 0-for-2 night.
