T-Bones Sign Three to Contracts

07/08/2006 12:44 PM - KANSAS CITY – The T-Bones have agreed to terms with pitchers Hank Woodman, Clint Gilliland, and outfielder Kyle Nichols, the club announced Friday.

Woodman comes to Kansas City after playing with the St. Paul Saints in 2005. As a Saint, he posted a 5-4 record with an ERA of 4.82 in 11 games. The 33 year old veteran made his T-Bones debut as a starter Friday night and allowed just one run through four innings before allowing five runs in the fifth. Woodman is very familiar with the Northern League, having played in Schaumburg for four years before being acquired by St. Paul.

Gilliland will add depth to the T-Bones bullpen. The Ludlow, MO product comes to the T-Bones straight out of NCAA Div. II Missouri Western State University where he posted a 4-4 record and a 4.50 ERA in five starts and 14 appearances. Gilliland also broke the Golden Griffons record for career innings pitched in his final outing, a six-inning relief effort in a 16-8 regional win over Central Missouri State.

Nichols joins the T-Bones after being released from Northern League foe Joliet, where he played 38 games this season. At Joliet, Nichols hit .267 in 146 at bats. He also notched seven home runs and 20 RBI. Nichols made his Kansas City debut Friday night in the T-Bones 12-8 win over Schaumburg by going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
