Embry Emerges Victorious in 4-3 Win Kansas City third baseman Brandon Jones, whose throwing error allowed the Goldeyes to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, scored the winning run on an RBI groundout by Doug Dreher in the tenth inning. Jones had three hits in the game, including an RBI single that gave the T-Bones a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The single scored Craig Hurba, who had reached on an error by Goldeye third baseman Sean Walsh. The run was the first allowed this season by Winnipeg starter Josh Beshears, who allowed just an unearned run in 5.2 IP. Winnipeg wasted no time in seizing the lead against T-Bone starter Greg Bicknell, however. Bicknell, who worked eight innings while allowing just three hits, allowed a two-run homer to Winnipeg’s Jimmy Hurst to give the Goldeyes the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The host club would hang on until the top of the seventh inning, when Michael Spidale, in his first game back from a strained hamstring, doubled and scored on an RBI single by Charles Peterson. Former Goldeye Peterson wasn’t done, driving in Greg Jacobs with a single to give the T-Bones a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning. But the error by Jones in the bottom half of the inning allowed Winnipeg to tie the game against closer Byron Embry (W, 1-0; pictured) before the T-Bones scored the deciding run against Winnipeg righty Brian Stirm (L, 0-1) in the top of the tenth. Embry struck out Aaron Mendoza to end the game and complete a two-inning effort, his longest outing since August 31, 2004.
