T-Bones Announce 2006 Coaching Staff “Dirty” Al Gallagher returns for his fourth season as manager for the T-Bones. “Dirty” Al has been involved with professional baseball since 1965, when he was selected in the first round amateur draft by San Francisco. By 1970, Gallagher was the starting third baseman for the Giants. “Dirty” Al has spent the seven previous summers as a manager in the Northern League, leading Madison to a 113-145 record before joining the T-Bones. Tim Doherty also returns for a fourth season with the T-Bones. In addition to his title of assistant head coach, Doherty will act as hitting coach for the 2006 season. Doherty has played, coached and scouted throughout his baseball career at both the college and professional levels. He recently opened Hardball Baseball School in St. Joseph, MO. Greg Bicknell will once again pull double duty as player and coach. During the 2005 season, his second with the T-Bones, Bicknell started 23 games and led the Northern League with a record 16 wins. He has been pitching professionally since 1989 when he was selected by the Blue Jays out of college, and his 128 career wins rank him fourth among all active minor leaguers. “It’s great to have Timmy and Bick back on the bench with me,” said Gallagher. “They both have experience on a variety of levels that will continue to make them an asset to the organization.” * * * The T-Bones also announce the signing of Jason Weintraub, a right-handed pitcher out of Tampa, FL. Weintraub was originally selected by the Mets in the sixth round of the 2001 draft. He declined a baseball scholarship to the University of South Florida to play professionally. Weintraub comes to the T-Bones after spending five years in the Mets system. He has a career record of 6-13 and a 4.71 ERA. Weintraub enjoyed his best professional season in 2004, when he went 3-4 with an ERA of 3.88 and 45 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched for the rookie-level Kingsport Mets of the Appalachian League. # # # |
