T-Bones Rally Late; Drop Opener

LITTLE FALLS, NJ. – The Kansas City T-Bones, dropped a 6-5 decision Monday night, against the Jackals, at Yogi Berra Stadium.

The T-Bones turned to starting pitcher Kyle DeVore, and the Jackals scored all six runs against the T-Bones starter. DeVore (0-1) dropped his first decision of the season, as the Jackals scored in the opening frame courtesy of a two-out walk to Peter Mooney, who scored on a Mark Threlkeld RBI double for an early 1-0 Jackals lead.

The T-Bones scored two in the third inning to tie the game briefly at 2-2, but the Jackals came right back, with a two run third, and took a 4-2 lead. 

The T-Bones made things very interesting in the ninth inning, reaching with three straight walks in the ninth inning. Brian Erie singled to right, to score Robby Kuzdale from third to pull Kansas City within a 6-3 game. Ryan Cavan drew the fourth walk of the inning, and plated Joe Rapp to make it a 6-4 game. Nate Tenbrink scored Vladimir Frias on a sacrifice fly to left, but the T-Bones would come one run shy and drop a 6-5 game one.

The T-Bones (11-15) return to Yogi Berra stadium Tuesday night to try and even the series against the Jackals (14-12), with first pitch set for 6:05pm central time. The T-Bones continue the 10 game road-trip to Canada and New York, before returning home to CommuintyAmerica Ballpark on July 3rd, tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
