KANSAS CITYKan. – Despite facing an early deficit, the Kansas City T-Bones were able to battle back and defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 10-3, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Monday night.

The T-Bones spotted the RedHawks three runs in the top of the first, thanks in large part to a three-run home run by Drew Muren off Kansas City starter Bobby Doran. But two innings later, Kansas City’s offense erupted for its largest single-inning output in 2015.

The first three batters in the T-Bones half of the third reached safely before Nate Tenbrink lined a two-run double to right field that scored Brian Erie and Ryan Cavan. The next batter, Kyle Robinson, grounded out to the shortstop, but Jake Blackwood scored, tying the game at 3-3. One batter later, Adam Bailey, hit a single that scored Tenbrink and gave the T-Bones a 4-3 lead. Although that’s all they’d need, the T-Bones added three more runs in the inning, including two from a line drive home run by Robby Kuzdale that scored Bailey.

Kansas City added an insurance run in the fourth inning behind Tenbrink’s RBI double that scored Blackwood, who reached base on a double and then was able to advance to third on a wild pitch. That gave Kansas City an 8-3 lead.

Kansas City added two more runs in the seventh inning after Cavan hit an RBI double that scored Vladimir Frias from second base. Blackwood then doubled for the second time in the game, scoring Cavan and giving the T-Bones a comfortable 10-3 lead. Blackwood and Bailey each had four hits for Kansas City, which finished the game with 17. Tenbrink (3), Frias (2) and Erie (2) each had multi-hit games for Kansas City.

Despite Doran’s rough start in the first inning, he was able to battle back, retiring the next seven batters he faced, including five strikeouts. Doran (1-1) went 5 innings and got his first win in a T-Bones uniform.
