KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The T-Bones announced earlier this week that they signed right-handed pitcher Derek Gordon.

Gordon, who is a younger brother of Royals’ outfielder Alex Gordon, was a four-year starter at Park University where he posted a career record of 24-8 with a 3.35 ERA and 172 strikeouts in 212 innings pitched. Gordon has the most career wins and strikeouts in school history, setting both marks during his senior season.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Gordon went 6-3 with a 3.12 ERA and 52 strikeouts for the Pirates in 2014, leading the team in all three categories.

Gordon, who went to Winnipeg with the T-Bones, made his professional debut Thursday night in Kansas City's 18-10 loss to the Goldeyes. He struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in 1 inning of relief.

In other roster moves, the T-Bones have placed pitcher Mike Nannini on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release, and they have placed pitcher Derek Loera on the disabled list.
