T-Bones Pound Flyers in 9-3 Win07/29/2004 9:22 AM - SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Kansas City scored seven runs in the first two innings - highlighted by Ray Browns 13th home run of the season - en route to a 9-3 victory over Schaumburg Wednesday night at Alexian Field. Jon McDonald (7-5) pitched seven strong innings to pick up with win for the T-Bones, who improved to 6-8 in the second half.
Browns two-run shot over the right-field fence in the first inning scored Rick Prieto and gave Kansas City an early 2-0 lead. Chad Hill hit a bases loaded double in the following inning to spark a five-run scoring binge that led to the lopsided victory. Brown led the way with three hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Eddie Pearson, Prieto, and Phi Thompson each added a pair of hits as the T-Bones took their second game of the four-game series that concludes Thursday night. After the offensive explosion in the first two innings, Flyers starter Lyle Prempas (1-2) settled down somewhat and allowed eight runs - seven earned - in six innings. It was just the third time the T-Bones won a game on the road against a left-handed starting pitcher. Kansas City received some strong relief from pitchers John Howerton and D.J. Johnson who pitched the final two innings of the game without allowing a hit. To view box score, CLICK HERE. |
