Behind the pitching of Devin Anderson and timely home runs, Kansas City ended a six-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Laredo Lemurs in front of 7,932 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Saturday night.

Coming on the heels of a 10-run loss Friday night, the T-Bones got down early with an unearned Laredo run in the top of the first against Devin Anderson (1-1), who was making his first start of 2013 after starting the season on the disabled list. Anderson was nearly unhittable the rest of the way, as he held Laredo to two runs and three hits through 5 1/3 innings.

“I felt Devin would be a good matchup for them because of the way he pitches,” said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. “He attacks the zone early and keeps the ball down, which is what he did (Saturday). And he was able to get them out on pitcher’s pitches.”

Leading 2-1, Kansas City, which wore camouflage jerseys in honor of Military Appreciation Night, extended its lead in the bottom of the fourth with solo home runs against Laredo starter Garrett Rau (2-2) by Devin Goodwin (6) and Ray Sadler (10), who’s now homered in three straight games. The T-Bones added two more in the bottom of the eighth, when Sadler walked with the bases loaded and then Felix Molina brought in Matt Padgett on a fielder’s choice. In the first inning, Jairo Perez hit his 10th home run of the season.

The rubber match between Kansas City and Laredo begins at 5:05 on Sunday night. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
