T-Bones Face Saltdogs Again After Two Losses06/02/2003 9:23 AM - (June 2, 2003) 3,294 fans were in attendance Monday evening to watch the Kansas City T-Bones take on the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Nebraska, in game two of this four-game series. The T-Bones, who are currently 4-5-1, lost to the Saltdogs 2-0, after Lincoln starter Doug Johnston (1-2) allowed just 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 over 6.1 innings. This is the T-Bones second loss against the Saltdogs during this series.
However, Lincoln didnt exactly tear the cover off the ball against Kansas Citys starting pitcher, putting together just 8 singles on the night and scoring only two runs. But Lincolns pitching they threw their first shutout of 2003 made those two runs hold up, and went on to at least tie a series for the first time in 2003. Nonetheless, Kansas City plans on changing Lincolns luck and their 2003 record-making streak in the last two games of this series to be played Wednesday and Thursday evenings again at Haymarket Park. Pitcher Lance Franks is the expected starter for Kansas City, and he will be opposed by Jason Herz for Lincoln. Lincolns first win of the season was against the Sioux City Explorers, the team the T-Bones will face in their home opener this Friday in front of a sold-out crowd at their new home, CommunityAmerica Ballpark |
