07/30/2011 10:24 PM -

Trent Lare (3-2) allowed one run on three hits over eight innings for the Kansas City T-Bones (35-38) to finish off a short two-game sweep of the Wichita Wingnuts (40-33), 6-1, on Saturday night in front of 7,612 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Wichita put at least one runner on in each of the first three innings before Lare retired eight straight as he took his scoreless outing into the sixth. Brent Clevlen doubled with one out in the frame but Lare got the next two hitters to retire the side. The Wingnuts picked up their lone run in the seventh on a home run by Peter Barrows.

In his first two starts with Kansas City Lare is 2-0 and has surrendered just one run on six hits over 15 innings.

The T-Bones took an early 2-0 lead off right-hander Junior Guerra (6-3) in first with an RBI single by Rico Washington and an RBI groundout by Ray Sadler. Kansas City cushioned their lead in the fifth, adding two additional runs on three hits and one error to chase Guerra from the game.

Guerra took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on nine hits over four-plus innings of work.

Aharon Eggleston drove in the final two runs for Kansas City with a single in the sixth. Andy Shipman closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.

Keanon Simon went two-for-three and is now six-for-eight in his last two games. Ray Sadler doubled in the third inning to extend his hit streak to 13 games and his on-base streak to 21.
