T-Bones Secure Series Win with Late Rally

The Amarillo Sox (29-34) erased an early deficit but the Kansas City T-Bones (29-34) rallied to secure a series victory with an 8-6 win in front of 6,029 fans on Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
 
Kansas City took a 3-0 against Corey Bass in the third inning, scoring the first run with consecutive triples by Jimmy Mojica and Keanon Simon. Ray Sadler (pictured) followed with a two-run home run to cap the frame.

Amarillo answered in the fourth when Van Pope hit an RBI single off Devin Anderson to make the score 3-1. After a solo home run by Rico Washington in the fifth, the Sox scored their second run of the game on an RBI single by Lee Cruz to pull within two, 4-2.

Anderson allowed two runs on five hits in six innings. Bass was charged with four runs on eight hits over five innings. Neither would factor into the decision.

Steven Stewart took over in the seventh for Kansas City and surrendered RBI singles to Fehlandt Lentini and Cyle Hankerd to tie the game at four. Kyle Dahman (1-2) relieved Stewart with two on and two out and surrendered a two-run single to Lee Cruz give Amarillo a two-run cushion.

The T-Bones answered immediately against reliever Pat Overholt (1-2) in the bottom of the inning, scoring the first run on Sadler’s second home run of the game. Kansas City tied the game at six on an RBI double by Johnny Bowden before a two-run double by Gerardo Caceres capped the score at 8-6.

Dahman took the win after allowing two hits over one and one-thirds innings. Overholt suffered the loss for Amarillo after allowing four runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning. Andy Shipman earned his 10th save with a perfect ninth, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Sadler finished three-for-five with three RBI to pace the offense. It is the third straight games Kansas City has had a player connect for two home runs.
