T-Bones Re-Acquire Former Playoff MOP

07/09/2011 12:01 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones  and manager Tim Doherty have announced that 2008 Northern League Playoff MOP Jim Fasano has been acquired from the El Paso Diablos for a player to be named.

Fasano, 27, signed with the RedHawks as a free agent prior to the season after spending 2008-10 with the T-Bones. In 50 games with Fargo, Fasano batted .292/.356/.411 with four home runs and 21 RBI.

Through 286 career games with Kansas City, Fasano hit .293/.382/.504 with 52 home runs and 228 RBI. He entered the 2011 season as the franchise career leader in games played and in the top five in most offensive categories, including hits (316), doubles (68), home runs, RBI, runs scored (179), total bases (544) and walks (150). He is just two free passes away from tying Greg Jacobs for the franchise career record.

Fasano’s best season as a T-Bone came during Kansas City’s 2008 championship campaign when he hit .292/.387/.534 while pacing the league in home runs (20) and RBI (84) during the regular season. He was an integral part of the team’s postseason success, earning Playoff MOP honors after batting .571 with three home runs in the four-game championship series.

Fasano was traded from Fargo to El Paso with pitcher Alex Kaminsky and two players to be named for designated hitter Kyle Nichols. The Diablos then sent Fasano to Kansas City. To make room on the roster, veteran outfielder Prentice Redman was released by the T-Bones.

Fasano will be in the lineup on Saturday night as Kansas City takes on the Diablos at 7:05. It is Military Appreciation Night and fans will have the opportunity to purchase game-used T-Bones military jerseys during the game in a silent auction.
