El Paso Downs T-Bones in Extras, 7-4

07/08/2011 10:41 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones (22-30) lost the second game of their four-game series in 10 innings against the El Paso Diablos (14-38) on Friday night in front of 5,124 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The first five batters all reached safely for El Paso, with a two-run double by Johan Garcia giving the Diablos an early 2-0 lead against Kris Johnson. Garcia later scored on an RBI single by Chad Gabriel and a fielder’s choice groundout by Maikol Gonzalez made the score 4-0.

That is all Johnson would allow over seven innings of work. The left-hander surrendered just five hits over his final six innings, and was charged with four total runs on nine hits over seven innings in a no-decision.

The T-Bones pulled within two against Adam Rowe in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Johnny Bowden. Rowe allowed just the two runs on six hits in six innings but would not factor into the decision.

The score remained 4-2 until the bottom of the ninth inning when the T-Bones scored two runs off Ray Silva (1-1) to force extra innings. Aharon Eggleston scored the first run on a wild pitch before Jimmy Mojica tied the game with an RBI single.

Ryne Reynoso threw two scoreless innings in relief of Johnson before giving way to Steven Stewart (2-2) in the top of the 10th. Stewart surrendered three runs in the inning, the first two on a single by Albenis Machado. A sacrifice fly by Javier Brito capped the score at 7-4.

Alex Kaminsky closed out the game with a scoreless inning to earn his first save of the season.

Kansas City will send Devin Anderson (4-6, 5.89) to face Diablos’ right-hander Scott Hodsdon (2-3, 5.22) Saturday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
