The T-Bones took a three-run lead in the second against Ryan Hinson, scoring two on a double by Jeff Hulett. Solo home runs by Prentice Redman and Jimmy Mojica in the fourth and fifth innings respectively pushed the advantage to five.

Hinson left after seven innings having surrendered five runs on five hits.

Johnson was charged with two runs on four hits over seven innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.

Wichita loaded the bases with two outs against reliever Drew Graham in the eighth before Kansas City called on Steven Stewart (2-1). The right-hander surrendered an RBI single to Josh Workman before a three-run double by Edwin Bellorin gave the Wingnuts a 6-5 lead. Horn capped of the inning with an RBI single but was thrown out trying to advance to second.

Kansas City drew three straight walks with two outs in the bottom of the eighth before a two run single by Gerardo Caceres tied the game at seven. Wichita answered immediately with a three-run ninth, scoring the first on a sacrifice fly by Mike Conroy. Kyle Dahman took over for Stewart with one on and two out in the inning and followed a walk with a two-run double by Jorge Delgado to make the score 10-7.

Stewart suffered the loss after surrendering four runs on five hits in an inning of relief.

Aharon Eggleston brought the T-Bones within one with a two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth. After blowing the save in the bottom of the eighth, Josh Dew (2-1) got the final four outs for Wichita to earn the victory after surrendering two runs on two hits.
