Anderson Leads T-Bones to Series Victory over RailCats

05/19/2011 9:19 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones (5-2) earned a series victory against the Gary SouthShore RailCats (3-4), 12-3, in the final game of their three-game set Thursday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Devin Anderson started off the night in front of 4,363 people with three straight perfect innings, with all outs resulting from groundouts. Gary’s Nolan Nicholson matched Anderson until surrendering a one-out single to Alberto Espinosa in the third. Nick Farnsworth and Keanon Simon followed with singles of their own before a three-run home run by Jimmy Mojica (pictured) gave the T-Bones a 4-0 lead.

That was all the support Anderson would need as the left-hander allowed his first base runner on a walk in the fourth and took a no-hitter through six and one-thirds innings before surrendering a two-run double to Cristian Guerrero. Guerrero later scored on a single by Mike Rohde.

Anderson earned the victory after allowing three runs on two hits in seven innings. Ryan Hook and Drew Graham each added scoreless innings to close out the game for Kansas City.

The T-Bones used triples by Farnsworth and Simon to score two more times in the fifth and plated five runs in the sixth to take an 11-0 lead. Alberto Espinosa drove in two of the sixth inning runs with his first home run of the year. An RBI single by Dwayne White capped the score at 12-3 in the bottom of the eighth.

Simon finished four-for-five with two RBI and five T-Bones collected multiple hits. With Mojica’s home run in the third the T-Bones shortstop has now homered in three straight games. It is the first time in his career that he has homered in consecutive games.
