The Kansas City T-Bones (2-0) continued to pound Diablo pitching Friday night as they won their second straight game to open the 2011 season, 12-8, over El Paso (0-2) at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, TX.

Both offenses were retired in order in the first inning before Ray Sadler opened the second frame with a solo home run off David Whigham (0-1) for a 1-0 Kansas City lead. El Paso answered against Devin Anderson (1-0) in the bottom of the inning, scoring twice on a two-run single by Stephen Douglas. Kansas City responded with four runs in the third, capping off the inning with an RBI triple by Brian Joynt (pictured) to take a 5-2 lead.

El Paso picked up two more runs on a two-run double by former T-Bone Kyle Nichols in the bottom of the third to pull within one. The T-Bones roared back in the fourth, scoring six times on four hits and one error to chase Whigham and pull ahead, 11-4. Rico Washington delivered the biggest blow in the inning, driving in two with a single before later scoring on a wild pitch.

Anderson earned a win in his first start with Kansas City after surrendering four runs on seven hits over six innings of work. Whigham took the loss after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits in three-plus innings of work.

Aharon Eggleston drove in three runs for the second straight night, capping off his night with an RBI groundout in the sixth to push the score to 12-4. He finished the game two-for-four with a double, a walk and three RBI. After Mike Rocco threw a scoreless seventh for Kansas City, El Paso fought back with a four-run eighth to pull within four, 12-8.

Steven Stewart started the eighth for the T-Bones and induced a flyout to the first batter he faced. After an error allowed the next hitter to reach, Stewart walked consecutive batters before surrendering a two-run single to Douglas. Another two-run single two batters later chased Stewart from the contest.

Drew Graham entered for Stewart and allowed both batters he faced to reach safely on a hit by pitch and a walk. Closer Andy Shipman entered with two outs and the bases loaded, and coaxed a first-pitch groundout from Nichols to end the threat. He then added a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Kansas City looks to secure a series victory in game three Saturday night at 8:05 CT. Right-hander T.J. Large will make his T-Bones debut opposite former T-Bone right-hander Cardoza Tucker and El Paso.
