The Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Kansas City T-Bones, 8-1, in an exhibition game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

After three scoreless innings by T-Bones starter Mike Rocco, the Wingnuts erupted for seven runs against Steven Stewart in the bottom of the fourth. Juan Richardson led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on Jorge Cortes' single to right-center. After Jorge Delgado was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Josh Workman lifted a sacrifice fly to left that plated Richardson with the game's first run.  Jeff Stevens singled to re-load the bases, which set up a walk to Evan Button that made it 2-0.

Later in the inning, and with the bases again loaded, Brent Clevlen reached first on an infield single that scored the Wingnuts' fourth run of the frame. Juan Richardson broke things open with a double to left-center that scored Josh Horn, Ryan Patterson, and Clevlen.

Cortes tripled off the right field wall to begin the bottom of the fifth and came home on Workman's RBI groundout to first base.

Kansas City picked up its lone run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from Gabriel Suarez.

Junior Guerra continued the positive trend of Wingnuts' starters this spring, blanking the T-Bones for three innings and allowing just one hit.  Guerra struck out two and walked one.  Ryan Hinson relieved Guerra and earned the win, pitching three shutout frames.  Josh Dew closed out the win with a scoreless ninth.

Stewart took the loss, allowing all eight runs on six hits and three walks in two innings. Grant Ledbetter, George Rivera and Andy Shipman combined to finish the final three scoreless frames for Kansas City.
