All-Star Center Fielder Re-Ups with T-Bones01/27/2011 9:41 AM - The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced that all-star center fielder Keanon Simon will return for the 2011 season. Simon, 26, was named to both the mid-season and post-season all-star teams in 2010, his first with the T-Bones. He hit .309/.387/.432 during the regular season while posting career highs in home runs (six) and RBI (41). Simon finished second in the league in triples (T-six) and stolen bases (31), and tied for third in runs scored (75). “Keanon was one of the MVPs of our club last season,” Doherty said. “He’s a great leadoff hitter and his defense saved our pitching staff a number of times. He is a hard-nosed player that brings good speed to our lineup.” Kansas City originally acquired Simon last February in a trade with the Amarillo Dillas of the United League. A product of Oklahoma State University, he began his professional career in 2007 as a 25th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in that summer’s amateur draft. Simon was named Player of the Week for Kansas City for the week ending June 20, 2010. |
