06/15/2004 11:44 AM - KANSAS CITY – The T-Bones took advantage of four early Winnipeg errors to establish a lead before pouring it on late en route to a 9-2 blowout of Winnipeg Tuesday night in front of 4,758 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. It was the fifth consecutive victory for Kansas City, which improved to 10-15 on the season.

T-Bones pitcher Greg Bicknell (1-0) pitched six strong innings, while allowing just one run, and shortstop Jack Jones paced the Kansas City offense with a pair of hits – including his third homer of the year – a walk, and a stolen base. Not to be outdone, first baseman Ray Brown, who entered the game tied for the league lead with seven home runs – belted his eighth round-tripper of the season to deep right field in the seventh.

The T-Bones touched Winnipeg starter Jeremy Hinderks (1-1) for five runs in six innings – though just two of those runs were earned – as the Goldeyes committed four errors in the first four frames. Relievers John Howerton and Clint Marcus pitched the final three innings of the game for Kansas City.

Winnipeg rallied back from an early 1-0 deficit in the fourth when T.J. Soto drove in a run with a one-out, bases-loaded infield single. But Bicknell, who retired nine of the first 11 batters he faced, ended the threat with a strikeout and a ground ball. It was the right-hander’s 100th win of this professional career.

The T-Bones scored all the runs Bicknell would need with four in the fourth inning; sparked by a lead-off double by Cody Nowlin and capped off by Jones’ two-run drive over the left-field wall. Brown’s two-run homer to right field highlighted Kansas City’s four-run seventh inning.

Game Notes: Winnipeg designated hitter Harry Berrios went 1-for-3 on the evening and needs just 22 hits to pass Nolan Lane as the Northern Leagues’ all-time career leader… Bicknell got a big boost from his defense with back-to-back double plays to close out the fifth and sixth innings… Jones’ homer was his first since May 27th.
