On a whim, Ian Pointlaw and his wife decided to take their family to a T-Bones game Wednesday, August 25. They thought the beautiful weather and kid-friendly environment was just the ticket for some family fun for the night. Because of that whim, Ian became the 2 millionth fan to walk through the gates at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

As Ian and his family entered the gate on that night, he was pulled aside by some staff members.

“To be honest, at first I thought I was in trouble,” he said. “I was thinking, ‘I didn’t hide anything in my diaper bag!’”

He quickly found out that he could relax, because he wasn’t in trouble. Then, he learned they should start celebrating.

“They started naming all the stuff we won,” he said. “I was excited to get the season tickets and the cash from CommunityAmerica Credit Union and everything else. I thought, ‘this is awesome.’”

Since he was the 2 millionth fan, Ian received a prize package from the T-Bones that included 2011 season tickets, $200 from CommunityAmerica Credit Union and gifts from Yard House, Verizon and the MeatLocker.

Ian says his family and friends are happy for them, and many are already trying to call dibs on games they want to come to with him next season. He also joked that his wife is excited, but sometimes she claims that if she hadn’t been walking ahead with the girls, she could have been the lucky number 2 million.

“I just tell her, ‘I was letting the ladies go first,’” he said with a laugh. “Our 4-year-old thinks it’s pretty cool, too, but I think our 2-year-old just knows that she got cotton candy that night. I just feel lucky to have been in the right place at the right time.”
