T-Bones Sweep Gary in Four Game Series

06/13/2004 11:40 AM - DATE: June 13, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GARY – Jonathan Krysa pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout and the Kansas City T-Bones supported their starter with 13 hits in a 7-0 rout of the Gary SouthShore RailCats at U. S. Steel Yard, the RailCats 13th consecutive defeat.

Krysa baffled the RailCats with his breaking ball much of the afternoon, retiring 15 straight RailCats hitters in the third through the eighth innings. The right-hander completed his second career shutout by starting a 1-6-3 game-ending double play on a comebacker, to strand a RailCats runner at third base for the fourth time in the game. Krysa fanned six.

Eddie Pearson led the T-Bones offense, batting 5-for-5, including an RBI-single, and scoring two runs. The T-Bones 3-4-5 hitters – Rick Prieto, Pearson, and Ray Brown – batted a combined 9-for-14, and scored five of the T-Bones’ seven runs.

Billy Coleman (0-3) suffered his sixth consecutive defeat – a streak that stretches back to last July 6 – yielding six runs on nine hits over five and one-third innings. The right-hander yielded two runs in the fourth, on three consecutive singles and a ground-ball double play, before being knocked out by four T-Bones runs on four hits, including a two-run single by Chad Shindle, in the sixth inning.

The RailCats (6-17), have dropped a Northern League record 13 consecutive games. The T-Bones (9-15), after losing four straight in Joliet, earned a split on their eight game road trip with Sunday’s win, which completed a four-game sweep of the RailCats.
