Energy for Life Walkathon

09/20/2010 12:30 PM -

On Sunday, September 19 the Kansas City Chapter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation held their 3K Energy for Life Walkathon at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

There were approximately 300 participants in the walk, which began at 9 a.m.

The foundation promotes the research and education of mitochondrial diseases, a condition that nearly one in every 200 people suffers from. Since its inception, the UMDF has funded nearly $7 million in research, making it the leading non-governmental contributor of grants focused solely on mitochondrial disease.
