T-Bones and Railcats Suspended by Rain

06/10/2004 11:37 AM - GARY – The Northern League baseball game between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Kansas City T-Bones at U. S. Steel Yard was suspended by rain in the bottom of the fourth inning, with the RailCats trailing 4-0.

The game will be completed to its normal nine-inning conclusion Friday beginning at 6 p.m., prior to the regularly scheduled game between the RaiCats and the T-Bones. Friday’s second game will be shortened to seven innings in regulation length.

The U. S. Steel Yard gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday for the RailCats T-shirt Giveaway, courtesy of Strack & Van Til and the Post-Tribune. Each of the first 1,000 kids (13 and under) inside the U. S. Steel Yard gates receives a RailCats T-Shirt. Followig the game, fans can enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular, courtesy of Krazy Kaplan’s and the Post-Tribune. Friday is also Hammond Community Night – Hammond residents receive $2 off box and reserved seat tickets (with valid photo ID).

Before heavy rains fell beginning at 8:20 p.m., the T-Bones built a 4-0 lead. The T-Bones scored three runs in the third inning, on an RBI-triple by Jack Jones and a two-run bloop double by Cody Nowlin. The T-Bones added a run in the fourth on a walk, two singles, and a ground-ball double play that scored the lead runner from third.

Fans holding rain checks to Thursday’s game may redeem them at the U. S. Steel Yard ticket office for tickets to any future RailCats 2004 regular season game.
