Blackwood Homers Twice, McAllister Earns 10th Win for KC

08/17/2010 9:14 PM -

Jacob Blackwood blasted two home runs in support of Cody McAllister (10-5) Tuesday night as the Kansas City T-Bones (46-34) defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes (40-39), 6-1, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

In front of 3,636, McAllister surrendered a home run to Dee Brown in the second, giving the Goldeyes their lone run of the game. McAllister worked seven innings, scattering four hits while striking out four. Following the home run by Brown, he did not allow a Winnipeg player past first base. The win pushed McAllister’s season total to 10, marking the first time a T-Bones pitcher has accomplished the feat since Jonathan Krysa in 2006.

Kansas City trailed 1-0 after four and-a-half innings, but an RBI single by Jimmy Mojica off Winnipeg starter Jason Mackintosh (1-4) in the bottom of the fifth evened the score at one. Blackwood connected for his first home run of the night to begin the sixth, giving the T-Bones a 2-1 advantage. With two outs in the seventh, a two-run double by Keanon Simon extended the lead to 4-2 before Blackwood’s second home run of the night added two more, capping the scoring at 6-1.

Mackintosh was charged with four of the runs on seven hits in six-plus innings in the loss.

Steven Stewart threw a scoreless eighth, and Drew Shetrone followed with a scoreless ninth to close out the game for Kansas City. Blackwood finished three-for-four with two home runs and three RBI, pushing his season home run total to 27.

The T-Bones send left-hander Ryan Knippschild (8-6, 5.27) to the mound opposite lefty Chris Salamida (9-6, 5.40) and Winnipeg Wednesday night in the rubber match of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05.  Catch all the action online at www.tbonesbaseball.com or on the radio at KXTR 1660 AM.
