T-Bones Drop Sixth in Row, 16-0

06/04/2004 3:58 PM - Behind a complete game two-hitter from lefty Kenny Holubek and a seven-RBI performance from Adam Olow, the St. Paul Saints defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 16-0 in front of 5,408 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, KS.

St. Paul had scored one in the first and third innings against starter Jonathan Krysa. But the big blow came in the fourth off the bat of St. Paul first baseman Nick Gretz, who socked a three-run homer that made the score 6-0 and sent Krysa out of the game.

The Saints scored thrice more in the top of the fifth against reliever Zach Sutton, two of the runs coming across after a double by Olow that made it 9-0. St. Paul then scored five in the top of the sixth against Sutton, four unearned, to put the Saints ahead 14-0. A two-run triple by Olow capped off the scoring in the inning.

Caleb Balbuena struck out the side for the T-Bones in the seventh, but allowed two more St. Paul runs in the eighth for the final margin. Shortstop Jack Jones pitched a scoreless ninth for the T-Bones, his second career pitching appearance without allowing a run.

Tomorrow night will be the finale of the series, with RHP Erik Grunwald (0-1) taking the hill for the T-Bones against RHP Kevin Foster (0-0) of the St. Paul Saints. The game will feature fireworks sponsored by Metro Sports and Kansas City Kettle Korn as well as a Boy Scout Camp-Out on the field after the game.
