T-Bones Take Series, Cruse Continues to Roll

07/18/2010 7:13 PM -

Andrew Cruse (8-2) surrendered just two hits over seven innings of work, leading the Kansas City T-Bones (34-18) to a 7-2 victory over the Joliet JackHammers (26-24) to take the game and series Sunday evening at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Cruse faced three over the minimum through seven innings and allowed his only run in the sixth on a home run by Jonathan Wyatt. He was perfect through three before the T-Bones committed an error to begin the fourth. He lost the no-hitter two batters later. Cruse earned his league-leading eighth win, striking out six while not issuing a walk. He lowered his ERA to 1.90 in the outing.

Kansas City jumped on Joliet starter Todd Privett (4-4) quickly, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Ryan Fox in the first. An RBI double by Jacob Blackwood added another run in the second, extending the T-Bones lead to 3-0. Ray Sadler hit a home run to start the third, and Dwayne White added a sacrifice fly in the inning, pushing the score to 5-0.

RBI singles by White and Jimmy Mojica plated the final two Kansas City runs in the fifth.  Privett suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits in four and one-thirds innings.

Kevin Light pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Franklin Perez got the first two outs of the ninth before Erik Hamren recorded the final out in the contest.

Eight T-Bones picked up at least one hit in the game, and six different players scored runs.
