Offense Continues to Surge in 11-10 Victory

The Kansas City T-Bones (15-10) scored 11 runs in the first four innings and held on to defeat the Gary SouthShore RailCats (14-11), 11-10, Tuesday night in front of 5,026 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Kansas City scored four runs in the first off Gary starter Ryan Zink (1-2), highlighted by a two-run double by Dwayne White (pictured). Jimmy Mojica then hit a solo home run in the second, giving Kansas City a 5-0 advantage. Jim Fasano’s solo home run in the third extended the T-Bones lead to 6-0.

The T-Bones sent 10 men to the plate in the fourth and scored five runs, three coming on a home run by Jacob Blackwood.

With the help of two double-plays, Kansas City starter Cody McAllister (2-2) faced the minimum through four innings and just one over the minimum through five, but the he left in favor of Kevin Light before he could record an out in the sixth.

Gary started the frame with five hits and a walk, and all the runners scored, cutting the T-Bones lead to 11-6. McAllister surrendered six runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one in five-plus innings of work.

The RailCats added a run in the seventh on a solo home run by Louis Ott off Light, who surrendered just the one run over one and one-thirds innings. Gary capped the scoring on the night in the eighth, adding three runs on two hits off Drew Graham, who departed after two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on just one hit. Steven Stewart worked the remaining two-thirds of the eighth and gave up just one hit.

Justin James pitched the ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

Kansas City continues the four-game series Wednesday with game three against Gary. Brett Davis (2-1, 5.40) takes the mound opposite Willie Glen (1-2, 3.72) and the RailCats tomorrow.
