The Kansas City T-Bones (14-7) re-gained a share of first place tonight with an 8-5 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (13-6) at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D.

Keanon Simon was hit by Fargo starter Jeremy Hauer to begin the game and advanced to third on a double by the next batter, Jacob Blackwood.  Rico Washington (pictured, right) then drove in Simon for the first run of the contest with groundout to second, giving Kansas City a quick 1-0 lead.  The RedHawks answered in the bottom of the frame against Brett Davis (2-1), taking a 2-1 advantage with a two-run home run by Jesse Hoorelbeke, his fifth of the season.

The see-saw battle continued in the second inning as the T-Bones added four more runs, the first on an RBI single by Simon to tie the game at two.  Following a single by Blackwood, Washington connected for a three-run shot, his third of the year, to push the score to 5-2.

Hauer left after two innings having surrendered five runs on six hits.  He did not factor into the decision.

Kansas City maintained their three-run advantage until the bottom of the fifth.  Fargo shortstop Jake Krause connected for his first professional hit, a one-out double, before Mike Coles later walked with two out.  The next batter, Carlo Cota, tied the game with a three-run blast.  Davis retired the next hitter with a flyout to end the frame.

The T-Bones continued to fight back, immediately re-taking the lead on a solo home run by Ryan Fox off Matt Mossey (2-1) to begin the top of the sixth.  Mossey, who entered for Hauer in the third, suffered his first loss of the year after allowing one run on five hits in three and one-thirds innings of work.

Davis allowed five runs on four hits in five innings of work in the victory.

Brian Joynt pushed the score to 7-5 with a solo home run in the seventh.  A dropped popup by Krause led to the final T-Bones run later in the inning.

Steven Stewart entered for Davis and threw two scoreless innings before walking Cota to begin the eighth.  After a strikeout and popout, Kevin Light took over and walked his first batter, bringing the tying run to the plate in the person of Kole Zimmerman.  The left-hander struck him out to end the threat.

Justin James threw a perfect ninth to secure his fifth save in as many tries this year.  He has yet to allow a run while holding opponents to just three hits in nine innings this season.  Washington drove in four runs for the T-Bones, finishing two-for-five in the contest.

The two teams continue their three-game weekend series tomorrow night at 6:00 with Ryan Knippschild (4-0, 1.85) taking the mound for Kansas City.  The RedHawks have yet to announce their starter for the contest.  Catch all the action through streaming webcast at www.tbonesbaseball.com or on the radio at KXTR 1660 AM.
