T-Bones Earn Victory in Completion of Suspended Game

06/09/2010 6:41 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones (13-5) were able to maintain the 3-0 lead they built last night before the rains came, earning a victory in the completion of a suspended game tonight against the Winnipeg Goldeyes (10-9), 7-2.

The game resumed in the top of the fifth with a runner on first, two out, and Ray Sadler at the plate.  Sadler connected for a double, but Jacob Blackwood was thrown out trying to score to end the frame.

Before weather took over on Tuesday night, Kansas City built a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Stephen Flake (0-1) on two walks, a hit, and a two-run error by shortstop Wes Long.  Flake suffered the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on just two hits in four and two-thirds innings.  He struck out 10 batters in the outing.

Blackwood pushed Kansas City’s lead to 5-0 with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh, his sixth of the season.

Andrew Cruse threw four scoreless for Kansas City last night, allowing just one hit in the outing.  Kevin Light (1-0, pictured) took over for the T-Bones tonight, holding Winnipeg scoreless until a solo home run by Juan Diaz brought the score to 5-1 in the seventh.  Light surrendered the one run on four hits in three and two-thirds innings of relief to earn his first win of the season.

The T-Bones added two more runs in the ninth, the first coming on a solo home run by Jimmy Mojica, his first of the season.  Reigning Northern League Player of the Week Jim Fasano singled home the final run later in the frame.

Drew Graham finished the game for the T-Bones, allowing a single run on a home run by Dee Brown in the ninth to push the final to 7-2.

Game two starts shortly with Kansas City sending Reid Santos to face Antony Bello in a battle of left-handers.  Catch all the action through streaming webcast at www.tbonesbaseball.com or on the radio at KXTR 1660 AM.
