T-Bones Fall to Lake County, 4-2

The Kansas City T-Bones (7-4) fell in their series-opening game against the Lake County Fielders (5-7), 4-2, tonight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

With 4,647 in attendance, Aaron Cone began the second inning with a walk and later scored on a Kyle Higgins’ sacrifice fly to give Lake County a 1-0 lead against Brett Davis (0-1).  The T-Bones quickly answered in the bottom of the frame when Ray Sadler drew a lead-off walk from Garry Bakker (1-1) and scored on an RBI fielder’s choice groundout by Dwayne White.

The Fielders plated three in the next inning, scoring the first on a go-ahead RBI double by Joshua Short.  Aaron Cone added the second tally with an RBI single and Short later scored on a groundout for a 4-0 Fielders advantage.

Davis took the loss for Kansas City after allowing four runs on five hits while walking two and striking out six in five innings of work.  Steven Stewart came out of the bullpen to add three scoreless innings and Drew Graham finished with a scoreless ninth.

Jimmy Mojica drove in the T-Bones final run in the seventh inning with an RBI double.  Bakker picked up his first win of the season after surrendering two runs on three hits over six and one-thirds innings.  Chris Homer pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save.
