Fox Homers Twice, T-Bones Prevent Sweep

05/30/2010 7:51 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones (7-3) scored early and often Sunday night, defeating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 9-4, in front of 5,018 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Keanon Simon started the T-Bones half of the first with a double and later scored on a wild pitch for an early 1-0 lead.  Simon has now reached base safely in all 10 games this season.

The T-Bones began their five home run attack in the second inning as Ryan Fox (pictured) posted his first of the night, a two-run shot off RedHawks starter Jake Laber (1-1).  Jacob Blackwood added a two-run home run later in the frame to push the score to 5-0.  Back-to-back home runs by Joynt and Fox gave the T-Bones an 8-0 lead after three.

Fox finished the T-Bones scoring with an RBI double in the fifth.  Laber exited after allowing nine runs, seven earned, on nine hits while striking out six and walking one over five innings.

Cody McAllister (1-0) retired the first 11 batters of the game before a single by Nic Jackson in the fourth.  Carlo Cota plated the first RedHawks run with an RBI double in the fifth and Jesse Hoorelbeke added another with a solo home run to begin the seventh.  McAllister left with one on and two out in the seventh having allowed two runs on five hits while striking out seven.

Erik Hamren finished the seventh and allowed two runs, one earned, in the eighth.  A passed ball and throwing error led to the first tally before Hoorelbeke capped off the frame with an RBI single.

Justin James threw a perfect ninth to close out the contest.  Fox finished three-for-four with four RBI to pace Kansas City.

Kansas City welcomes the expansion Lake County Fielders to CommunityAmerica Ballpark with a three-game series beginning tomorrow night.  Kansas City will send left-hander Brett Davis to the mound for his first start of the season opposite right-hander Garry Bakker for the Fielders.  First pitch is set for 7:05.  Come out to the park for a special post-game Memorial Day fireworks show.  For tickets, call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com
