Blackwood Back for 2010

12/07/2009 9:59 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced the signing of infielder Jacob Blackwood for the 2010 season.

Blackwood, 24, posted a .288/.313/.425 line in 63 games with the T-Bones last season.  He joined Kansas City after his release from the Florida Marlins organization, where he began his professional career as a 16th round draft pick in the 2006 amateur draft.

“Jacob is an outstanding defender and has a chance to have a very explosive offensive season,” said Doherty.  “He will move to second base which completes what I believe will be a very solid double play combination.”

A native of Platte City, MO, Blackwood collected his first hit with Kansas City in just his second at bat in game one of a doubleheader against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on June 25, 2009.  He finished that contest two-for-three with an RBI.  He capped off the regular season with an outstanding performance at Joliet on August 31, going five-for-six with two doubles and six RBI in a T-Bones victory.

The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign in Gary, Ind. on May 20 and will host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28.  Season ticket packages and mini plans are available now by calling 913-328-5618.  For information on group outings, call 913-328-5628.  Single game tickets will go on sale in 2010.  Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
