For the second time this season, Ryan Fox blasted three home runs in a game for the Kansas City T-Bones (22-21) as they took the first game of a three-game series against the Schaumburg Flyers (20-22), 10-3, tonight at Alexian Field.

Making the start at catcher tonight, Fox drove in three runs with his first shot of the contest to cap off a four-run first inning against Carmen Pignatiello (3-4).  An RBI groundout by the previous batter, Jim Fasano, plated the first run of the frame.

Travis Ezi responded for the Flyers in the bottom of the first, beginning the frame with a solo home run off Ryan Knippschild (3-1) to push the score to 4-1.  Schaumburg scored their only other run off Knippschild in the fourth when Jose Valdez tripled to start the inning and scored on an errant relay throw by second baseman Neb Brown.

Knippschild went eight innings in the victory, scattering seven hits while striking out seven in his outing.

Fox pushed the score to 5-1 in the third with his second home run, a solo shot with one out.  Pignatiello departed after four and one-thirds innings having surrendered five runs on seven hits in the loss.

Reliever Kris Jiggitts surrendered the sixth T-Bones run in the sixth on an RBI single by Greg Jacobs that gave Kansas City a 6-2 advantage.

After scoreless seventh and eighth innings, the T-Bones capped off their offensive night with a four-run ninth against Jim Popp.  Jacobs reached on an error and later scored on a double by Fasano.  With two men on, Fox connected for his third blast of the night and second three-run shot of the contest to give Kansas City a 10-2 lead.

Fox finished three-for-five with seven RBI on the night, tying a team record for home runs and RBI in a single game.

Schaumburg added a run against Daniel Sattler in the ninth to cap the scoring at 10-3.

Luis Villarreal (2-2, 2.47) takes the mound for Kansas City tomorrow night opposite Alain Quijano (1-1, 5.02) and the Flyers.  First pitch is set for 6:05.
