Brad Correll made his first home run with the Joliet JackHammers (16-29) count as his tenth-inning blast defeated the Kansas City T-Bones (21-21), 6-4, tonight at Silver Cross Field.  The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the T-Bones and prevented a four-game sweep of Joliet.

Both teams scored in the first inning for a 1-1 tie after one.  Kansas City plated their first run off Rory Shortell on an RBI single by Jim Fasano.  The JackHammers answered against Dustin Bolton when Adam Klein singled, stole second and scored on a basehit by Kevin Rios.

An RBI single by Danny Cox scored Isaac Omura in the second for a 2-1 Joliet advantage.

After a scoreless third, Greg Jacobs tied the game at two with an RBI double in the fourth.  Ryan Fox (pictured) gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a solo shot to begin the frame, his 12th of the season.

Correll tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth and scored on a groundout by Wally Backman Jr. to push the JackHammers in front by one.

Bolton left in favor of Chris Rhoads (2-2) after allowing four runs on eight hits over six innings of work.  Shortell departed with two outs in the sixth having allowed three runs on eight hits.  Neither would factor into the decision.

Ryan Paul entered for Shortell and struck out the first three batters he faced.  After a two-out walk to Fox in the seventh, Paul surrendered a double to Neb Brown that plated Fox to tie the game at four.  Following the double, Paul and reliever Chad Blackwell (1-1) combined to retire 10 of the final 11 T-Bones batters.  Blackwell allowed one walk and struck out two over two scoreless innings to earn the victory for Joliet.

Rhoads sat down the first seven batters he faced before Omura singled with one out in the ninth.  A double play groundout by Cox would end the inning and send the contest into extra frames.

After a quiet top of the 10th from Kansas City, Rios drew a walk with one out in the bottom of the frame.  Correll then connected for a two-run shot to end the game, 6-4.  Rhoads allowed just two hits and one walk over his three and one-thirds innings of relief.

Mark Minicozzi finished 0-for-five to snap a 10-game hit streak, the longest by a T-Bone this season.  Correll went two-for-five with three RBI to pace Joliet.

Kansas City now heads to Schaumburg for a three-game weekend set against the Flyers to close out the first half of the season.  All-star Ryan Knippschild (2-2, 2.47) is set to open the series tomorrow night for the T-Bones opposite Carmen Pignatiello (3-3, 5.68) and Schaumburg.  First pitch is set for 6:45.
