The Kansas City T-Bones (13-18) dropped the first of a three-game series tonight, 11-3, against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (14-16) in front of 6,617 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

After a quick first inning, Brad Correll reached on a walk by Garry Bakker (2-2) to begin the T-Bones’ half of the second.  He moved to second when Jim Fasano singled, and scored the first run of the contest on an RBI double by Ryan Fox (pictured).   A sacrifice fly by Craig Hurba scored Fasano, giving Kansas City a 2-0 lead.

The RedHawks tied the game in the fourth with back-to-back solo home runs off Luis Villarreal (1-2) by Nic Jackson and Yurendell DeCaster, but the T-Bones answered in the bottom of the inning.   With one out, Fox hit his 10th home run of the year, shifting the lead back to Kansas City, 3-2. 

Zach Penprase reached with a one-out single in the fifth, and scored on a two-run home run by Mike Coles as Fargo regained the lead, 4-3.  The RedHawks added two more runs on a single by Randall Simon in the seventh to extend their lead to three. 

Luis Villarreal left after seven innings in favor of Daniel Sattler.  Villarreal allowed six runs on 11 hits while striking out seven in the losing effort.  Sattler threw a perfect eighth, striking out two, before giving way to Todd Moser to begin the ninth.  Bakker allowed three runs on five hits over six and two-thirds innings in the victory.

Zach Penprase reached on an infield single to start the ninth and moved to second on a wild pitch.  He was pushed to third on a fielder’s choice by Jackson.  An RBI double by DeCaster plated both runners, and an infield single by Simon moved DeCaster to third.  DeCaster scored and Jeremiah Piepkorn reached safely when a throwing error by Jeff Helps moved Simon to second.  An RBI double by Carlo Cota plated Simon before Moser gave way to Payton Tweddale.  After Tweddale issued a walk to Alan Rick, a groundout by Kole Zimmerman scored Piepkorn for the final run of the game.

Simon finished the contest five-for-five with a double and two RBI.
