Former MU Hurler Rejoins Kansas City

03/30/2009 12:40 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have signed former University of Missouri pitcher Andy Shipman to a contract for the 2009 season.

Shipman, 27, joined the T-Bones in August last season after his release from the Oakland Athletics organization.  Born in Warrensburg, Missouri, Shipman began his professional career in 2003 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox.  After reaching Triple-A Iowa in the Chicago Cubs organization in 2006, Shipman spent two seasons with Class AA Midland in the A’s system before his release.

“We’re glad to get Shipman back this season,” said McCauley.  “He performed very well down the stretch last year and will help solidify our bullpen again in 2009.  We look forward to his continued success while giving him an opportunity to move up.”

Shipman made 10 appearances in relief with Kansas City last season, holding batters to a miniscule .193 average while striking out 16 in 15 and one-thirds innings.  He made a quick impression with the T-Bones, posting seven scoreless innings over his first five outings.

Single-game tickets for the 2009 exhibition and regular season start at just $6 and are on sale now.  Season tickets, group tickets, mini-plans and All-You-Can-Eat plans are also available.  For more information regarding T-Bones ticket options, call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com
