Harvey Returns to Kansas City for 2009 Season

03/11/2009 12:40 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have announced the return of former Royals All-Star Ken Harvey for the 2009 season.

Harvey, 31, rejoins the T-Bones for his first full season in independent baseball.  After signing with the T-Bones in June last season, Harvey hit .302 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI over just 55 games.  The veteran slugger went two-for-three with a double in his first game with the T-Bones and finished the regular season on a 10-game hit streak.  He also posted 13 multi-RBI games during the campaign.

“Harvey was a huge addition to our offense last year, especially after the loss of Brad (Correll) to the Royals,” said McCauley.  “He helped carry our offense on a few occasions and we look for another great performance out of him again this season.”

In parts of four seasons with the Royals, Harvey posted a .274 average with 27 home runs and 126 RBI.  His best season came in 2004 when he batted .287 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI while earning a spot on the American League All-Star Team.  Harvey was originally selected by the Royals in the fifth round of the 1999 amateur draft.

Single-game tickets for the 2009 exhibition and regular season go on sale to Wyandotte County residents on March 24 and to the general public on March 26.  Season tickets, group tickets, mini-plans and All-You-Can-Eat plans are on sale now.  For more information regarding T-Bones ticket options, call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com
