ZION, Ill. — The City of Zion, Illinois announced this morning that the Northern League of professional baseball will be expanding for the 2010 season into the northern Chicago suburb of Lake County.  Academy-Award winner Kevin Costner will be the principal owner of the new club.

“This is thrilling news for the Northern League and for baseball fans across the league’s footprint,” said Adam Ehlert, T-Bones co-owner.  “In these trying economic times, the Lake County group’s commitment reinforces the league’s brand of family-friendly, affordable and entertaining professional baseball.”

The Northern League averages in excess of 4,600 fans nightly.  The Kansas City T-Bones run second to Winnipeg in attendance, averaging 6,000 per game at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Kansas City T-Bones begin their title defense on May 15, 2009 against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at beautiful CommunityAmerica Ballpark.  Tickets and sponsorship packages are available by calling 913-328-2255, or visiting the TeamStore in the Legends mall.
