Adams Skips Town, Signs with Padres

02/26/2004 9:20 AM - Third baseman Skip Adams has signed with the San Diego Padres and will report to spring training in Peoria, AZ, Kansas City T-Bones Manager Al Gallagher announced today.

Adams, who started his college career at Cypress Junior College before moving on to Florida International University, started his professional career in 2003 with Niagara of the Canadian Baseball League. Adams was red-hot in his brief tenure in Niagara, hitting .359 with 5 home runs and 19 RBI in only 24 games. The Albuquerque native then signed with the T-Bones, for whom he batted .247 in 26 games.

“We’ll miss Skip, but this is a tremendous opportunity for him,” remarked T-Bones Manager Al Gallagher. Adams was penciled in to start at third base for the T-Bones, and will now likely man the hot corner for the Fort Wayne (IN) Wizards of the Class A Midwest League.

After a successful inaugural campaign, the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League are eagerly preparing for their second season at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
