GARY, Ind. – Former Royal Tony Cogan held the T-Bones to just two hits over seven scoreless innings tonight as the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated Kansas City, 2-0, at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind.

The T-Bones got four baserunners over the first two innings against Cogan, loading the bases with one out in the second with a walk, single and hit batter.  The left-hander then induced a double play from Geoff McCallum to end the threat and keep the game scoreless.

Cogan retired the last 12 batters he faced and 17 of his final 18 batters with the help of the double play.  He finished his outing with a perfect seventh inning, striking out all three batters in the frame.  He allowed just two hits in the game while walking two and striking out seven.  Cogan improved to 4-1 after his 95-pitch effort.

Gary plated their first of two runs against Chris Shaver on an RBI single by Anthony Esquer in the second.  The RailCats added their second tally when a double from Cristian Guerrero plated Steve Haake in the third.  Shaver took the loss after surrendering two runs on six hits over five innings in his T-Bones debut.

Andy Shipman threw a perfect sixth before loading the bases with nobody out in the seventh.  He then struck out Guerrero before giving way to left-hander Payton Tweddale.  The rookie lefty induced outs from both batters he faced to keep the score at 2-0.

Brady Martinez relieved Tweddale and threw a scoreless eighth for the T-Bones.  Koichi Misawa got the final out in the eighth for Gary before allowing two singles with one out in the ninth.  With the go-ahead runner at the plate, Misawa struck out Craig Hurba and Neb Brown to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Kansas City looks to avoid the sweep tomorrow as they send Anthony Boughner to the hill against Brian Forystek for the RailCats.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:05.
