T-Bones Suffer Loss in Exhibition Finale

The T-Bones dropped their exhibition finale to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 7-3 at Newman Outdoor field in Fargo, North Dakota Tuesday night.
 
The RedHawks got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first off T-Bones starter Rick Rivas. Boomer Berry opened the inning with a base hit then stole second with two men out. After a walk to Jeff Eure, Steve Mortimer singled home Berry. After a walk to Alan Rick loaded the bases, Dustin Miles got hit by a pitch to force home Eure.
 
The Hawks got single runs in each of the next three innings. Joe Mathis singled home a run in the second before Mortimer hit a solo home run in the third. The T-Bones got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth when Craig Hurba hit a solo home run to right field. Mortimer drove home another run in the bottom of the frame to give the RedHawks a 5-1 lead.
 
Jim Fasano homered to right field to get the T-Bones back on the board in the fifth before the RedHawks capped their scoring with two more runs in the bottom of the inning.  Dan Maycock scored Miles on a base hit. Two batters later Carlo Cota drove home Zach Penprase to give the RedHawks a 7-2 lead. 
 
The T-Bones scored their final run in the top of the eighth capitalizing on a leadoff walk to Neb Brown. He advanced to second on a groundout by Nick Jaros and moved up to third on a wild pitch before getting singled home by Geoff McCallum.
 
All seven RedHawks runs were charged to Rivas. Rick Hummel, Chris Rhoads, Tag Horner and David Haehnel all combined to shut down the Hawks for the final four innings allowing only one hit.
 
The T-Bones open the regular season on Thursday against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at CanWest Global park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. First pitch is at 7:05 and can be heard on AM 1660 KXTR. The T-Bones come home for their home opener on Friday, May 23 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark to play the Schaumburg Flyers scheduled for 7:05.
