Wet and Wild Finish

09/01/2003 9:58 AM - The T-Bones managed to play their make-up game from last night after an hour and a half ran delay. Unfortunately they lost to the Sioux Falls Canaries 6-2 in the first game. The T-Bones got their two runs when Ray Brown hit a ground out to second to advance Taber Maier to home, and Eddie Pearson to third. Rodney Clifton then hit a single to left field to send Pearson home.

Starting pitcher Nate Sevier (6-7) and reliever Mike Hoyt each gave up three runs a piece, however, Sevier only had two earned runs. Sevier got the loss and Richie Burgess (5-6) got the win. Despite the loss Sevier added seven strikes out to his credit and Burgess added five.

The highlight of the game for the T-Bones was when owner John Ehlert and general manager Adam Ehlert recognized Rick Prieto and Eddie Pearson for their achievements as Northern League post-season All-Star Awards. Pearson was selected as the Northern League’s Most Valuable Player, and best designated hitter, and Rick Prieto was named one of the best Northern League outfielders.

The second game of the evening only lasted until the top of the fourth inning before head umpire Bradley Hungerford called the game due to rain. The score was 0-0. This game will not be made up this season. The fans who braved the gloomy conditions were treated to a fireworks show after the game and giveaways.
