T-Bones Ink Former Royal DeHart

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Manager Andy McCauley and the Kansas City T-Bones have announced the signings of former Royal Rick DeHart, and Sean Kramer, both pitchers.

DeHart, 36, has pitched at the Major League level for both the Kansas City Royals and the Montreal Expos, the team that originally signed him in 1992 as a non-drafted free agent.  DeHart has spent parts of the last two seasons playing for McCauley in Schaumburg.  He has posted a 4.16 ERA in 416 career games in the minors with a record of 63-73 while tallying 1,155 innings pitched.  While with the Flyers in 2005, DeHart posted a 3.76 ERA in 20 games and 19 starts, striking out 114 while walking only 38.

“DeHart has played for me before and is a quality guy, both in the clubhouse and on the mound,” said McCauley.  “He has playoff experience and we look for him to solidify our starting rotation down the stretch.”

Kramer, 25, played his first season with Tri-City, the Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros in 2002 after being selected as a 29th round draft pick.  He has since played in the Central, Northern and Atlantic Leagues, as well as in the American Association.  In 143 career games, he has a 4.54 ERA and 54 saves with 203 strikeouts and 108 walks.

“Kramer is a quality reliever that we hope will contribute in the later innings, helping to bolster our bullpen,” said McCauley.  “The addition of both him and DeHart should help us shore up our pitching staff.”

DeHart will make his T-Bones debut tonight at Gary versus Jason Shelley.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
