KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Northern League announced that Kansas City T-Bones infielder Rob Watson was named Northern League Player of the Month for July.

Watson, who was recently named Player of the Week for the week ending July 29, hit .413 with 14 doubles, a triple, a home run and 29 RBI in 25 games on the month. He currently ranks second in the league with a .372 average and leads the league with a .471 on-base percentage. He has helped propel the T-Bones to the top of the South Division as he leads the team in runs (59), hits (96) and walks (46).

Earlier this season, Watson had a 15-game hitting streak from June 17 - July 3 and put together a 24 game on-base streak from June 14 - July 12. At home, he currently has an on-base streak of 32 straight games, a league-high feat that began on Opening Night.

The 5-9, 190-pound infielder has played second base (37), third base (14) and shortstop (16) for Kansas City this season. A former college pitcher at Oklahoma State, he has also appeared in three games as a pitcher for the T-Bones, throwing three scoreless innings while surrendering two hits and striking out three. Watson, who was originally drafted by the Detroit at Tigers in the 17th round of the 2002 amateur draft, is playing his second year in the Northern League after playing in 75 games for the Schaumburg Flyers in 2006.

Watson is the fifth T-Bones player to be named Player of the Month since the franchise moved to Kansas City in 2003.  The last occurrence came in June 2006 when Greg Jacobs and Jonathan Krysa were named Player and Pitcher of the Month respectively.
