Allison Throws Complete Game in Cougars’ 5-1 Win

GENEVA, Illi.- In the series finale, Ben Allison threw his first complete game and BJ Lopez blasted two home runs to lift the Kane County Cougars (44-51) to a 5-1 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats (38-58) to secure the season series.

Allison earned the win with nine innings, six hits, one earned run, two walks, and seven strikeouts while the loss went to Chris Erwin despite seven innings of two-run baseball with four hits and two walks while fanning four.

With goose eggs on the board in the fourth, Lopez would hit his first of two home runs on the day to take a 2-0 lead.

The two-run advantage would hold until the seventh when Marshall Skinner drove home his first professional RBI with an RBI groundout.

After Erwin left the game headed to the eighth, Tony Rosselli hit a two-run home run to add some insurance before Lopez would belt his second of the night to bring us to the 5-1 final.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats return home to the Steel Yard for their final series of the season as a four-game set gets underway against the Milwaukee Milkmen tomorrow, September 3 at 7:10 p.m. in Gary, Indiana.
