Every match important as PDL regular season draws to a close
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando City U23s square off against Mississippi Brilla FC on Tuesday, July 3, at the Seminole Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Orlando and Mississippi are wrapping up a back-to-back series against one another, one in which City took the first victory over Brilla FC in Jackson, Miss., on Friday.

In the first match between the two clubs, the U23s defeated Mississippi by a score of 5-3. New Forward McKauley Tulloch, a junior at the University of Central Florida, scored a hat trick with goals in the 19th, 45th and 51st minutes in the win over Brilla FC. Johan Bergfeld and Will Fransden also added goals in the 40th and 48th minutes, respectively.

With the victory over Mississippi, Orlando moved back into the hunt for a playoff spot within the Southeast Division with a record of 5-2-4 and 19 points. The U23s now sit in fourth spot in the division, only four points behind second place IMG Bradenton Academics, who have two games in hand on the Lions. Five games remain in the PDL regular season for Orlando.

Mississippi is still in the hunt for a playoff spot with a record of 5-5-1 and 16 points. The Brilla, after Tuesday’s match in Orlando, will play two more matches against Southeast Division clubs in the upcoming week.

Player to Watch- Anthony Arico:

Midfielder Anthony Arico was behind three of the Lions five goals against Mississippi on Friday, notching three assists in the 19th, 40th and 50th minutes in the 5-3 win. The Crystal Lake, Ill., native joined the U23s after a successful four years at Eckerd College. The midfielder was one of two players during his senior season to start and play in all 17 games for the Tritons, and is now quickly becoming a key part of the U23 team.
