ORLANDO, Fla. The Orlando City U23s face an important test against fellow Southeast Division club Ocala Stampede tomorrow, June 2, at Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala, Fla. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Just a week ago, Orlando defeated Ocala at the Seminole Soccer Complex by a score of 3-1. The U23s scored two goals in the first 20 minutes, controlling possession while maintaining active offensively throughout the match to secure the win. Avallone also commented on the upcoming game against the Stampede and what its like to face a club again in such a short time span. It wont be easy because theyre a good club, said Avallone. We have to perform at our best to take the three points on the road. The U23s last match resulted in a 1-1 draw Thursday against IMG Bradenton Academics in Bradenton, Fla. Bradenton Midfielder Milovan Kapor scored in the first half but Orlando team-captain Jonathan Mendoza equalized in the second to secure an important away point and keep the U23s out of the loss column. Orlando City U23s Head Coach Joe Avallone commented on his teams play on Thursday and what his squad needs to improve on moving forward. It was the tale of two halves, said Avallone. Our second half performance was great and we need to replicate that for a full 90 minutes against Ocala on Saturday. If we keep consistent then I think well be ready to go. 2012 marks the inaugural season in the PDL for the Ocala Stampede. Led by Head Coach Anderson DaSilva, the Stampede have accrued a record of 3-2-1 and currently sit in third place in the Southeast Division behind Orlando and IMG.
